It will be mandatory to have an electrical inspection carried out at least, every five years for properties in the private rented sector.
Failing to comply could lead to penalties of up to 30,000.
A current valid test certificate dated within the last five years, must now be in force for all existing tenancies and any new tenancies.
The inspection should be PRIOR to any new tenancy and ALL tenants must also be provided with a copy of the EICR certification.
It is also worth noting that should any C1/C2 recommendation be made, these would have to be completed within 28 days in order to comply!
