Strangford Fuels, a coal delivery business based in Strangford, was established in 1981 by Comgall Milligan.
Around 1990 home heating oil and red diesel delivery was added to the coal delivery business.
The home heating oil business benefited from the government policy to move Housing Executive houses away from coal to oil heating, and the heating oil, red diesel and coal delivery business outgrew the Strangford depot.
A larger, more modern site was acquired in Downpatrick in 1995.
This site has been continuously developed and is now a state of the art fuel depot with offices.
