Condensing Boilers have an increased efficiency over the more traditional boilers, the efficiency of a typical boiler is approximately 75% where as a condensing boiler can be over 87% efficient.
The increased efficiency is due to the extraction of otherwise wasted flue gases as condensing boilers are designed to allow the heat to rise through a primary exchanger where the gases are rerouted over a secondary exchanger.
This reduces the flue gas temperature which in turn causes water vapour to condensate and droplets of water to fall to the flue base where it is drained via a condensate pipework to drain.
